What to Expect

I can offer you a free 15-minute consultation by phone in order to meet, for you to hear a little about me, and for me to hear a little about you and what you're looking for. If we both decide that we'd like to move ahead, the next step would be to schedule a 90-minute intake session, wherein I will take a complete psycho-social history in order to better inform the therapy process. Sometimes I use tests or inventories in order to give both of us a better idea of what exactly your symptoms are and what diagnoses you might meet criteria for. Based on this, and informed by your goals and current symptoms, I will create a treatment plan that I think would best meet your hopes for treatment.​

Therapy differs in length from person to person depending on prior experiences, goals, acuity of symptoms, and clinical recommendations. How long therapy goes for, how often we meet, and what modality is right for you will be an ongoing conversation between you and me, and you will always get to decide whether or not it is a good fit for you. The best predictor of successful outcomes in therapy, over and above any particular treatment modality, is the degree of fit between therapist and client. Because of this, it is incredibly important to me to make sure that you feel as though you're in the right place and doing the work that is important to you; if not, I will very happily help you find the person or treatment that would be.
